Western graphic tees with a mouthy one-liner, and die-cut stickers of cats with opinions. Those are the two print on demand trends we'd put money on this month. Both kept showing up in every trend scan we ran in October, both have a fresh batch of Playground templates behind them, and both have one format that sells and one that's already crowded.

Our creator program shipped more than 150 new cat stickers and over 250 new western tees into the template library in the last week alone. Below is what's driving each trend, the layouts that work, and how to make your own version in a few minutes.
Western graphic tees: why they're everywhere right now
In one week, four big mall and boutique fashion brands put out 11 western and horse-girl graphic tees between them. Horse portraits, saddle-and-spur graphics, "hold your horses" style phrase tees, a cowboy-heart baby tee. When that many buyers at that many brands make the same call in the same week, it's a signal worth following.
The boutique versions retail from about $48. Print on demand sellers can sit well under that and still make a healthy margin, which is the whole opportunity.
Search interest backs it up. Queries around western shirts keep climbing, and "black cowboy hat" jumped about 50% in a single week in mid-October. It's an evergreen trend with a fall and winter peak: concert season, rodeo season in December, Nashville bachelorette trips, and holiday gifting all land in the next ten weeks.
The 2026 version reads differently from the last wave, though. One phrase, one object, a washed color, and a joke someone actually wants to wear to brunch. Fringe and rhinestone costume pieces are a separate, slower market.
The four western tee layouts that are working
Most of what's selling falls into four layouts. Every one of them is a flat, two or three color screenprint look.
- A cowboy boot under a stacked slab-serif phrase. I Don't Two-Step For Free is the cleanest example. Phrase on top, one boot, done.
- A horse with arched condensed type. The Horse Is My Date pairs a horse portrait with a red bow and a rose. Funny and pretty at the same time, which is hard.
- A front-view hat with the phrase around it. Haters Gonna Hat is a pun that works because the illustration does half the joke.
- Coquette cowgirl. Pink, cherries, bows, a little sparkle. This one has its own buyer.

Coquette cowgirl and the bachelorette crowd
The pink side of western deserves its own listing set. Bucked Off And Still Cute and Veil & Spurs are built for bridal parties and girls' trips, and those buyers order six or eight shirts at a time. A "last rodeo" bachelorette set is one of the easiest bulk orders in print on demand.

Softer western: ranch life and slow weekends
Not every western buyer wants a punchline. Saddle Sundays and Ride Kind go after the horse-owner and ranch-life crowd, who'll buy the same design in three colors if they like it.

Colors, type and the brunch test
Stick to washed sand, dusty rose, faded denim blue or butter yellow, with brown, cream or burgundy ink on top. Keep the phrase under six words. Our gut check for this whole trend: would a 24-year-old who just moved to Nashville wear it to brunch? If it looks like a souvenir from a gas station on the interstate, start over.
The quiet upsell: western patterns
Seamless patterns are the easiest second product. A boots and stars pattern or bronco rider repeat works on tote bags, phone cases, gift wrap and all-over prints. Pair one with a matching tee and you've got a set instead of a single listing.

Funny cat stickers: the cat trend moved off the tee
Cats were the loudest signal in our October scans. A cat tee sat at the top of the trending list on one of the biggest print on demand marketplaces, black cat was a trending tag, and a plain "graphic tee" search on Etsy returned at least six cat designs in the top results. Two of the fashion brands we track had cat tees out the same week.
That's exactly the problem. Cat tees are crowded. Stickers aren't, at least not this version of them: one cat, one mood, one or two words.
The formula: one cat, one mood
Every sticker in this batch follows the same rules. One cat per die-cut sticker. Thick white border. Flat colors, bold outlines, a simple face. A word or two at most. The joke is a mood you know from your own week: peopled out, on hold, in a rage about traffic.

Peopled Out, Honk and Rain Check are the ones we'd list first. Grumpy beats cute in this trend, every time.
Office cats sell to people who sit at desks all day
Work humor is the biggest sub-theme, and it's an easy gift for coworkers. Productive (a cat asleep on a keyboard), Remote Worker and Circling Back land on laptops, water bottles and the backs of phones.

Food and feelings
The other strong lane: a cat guarding food, or a cat being passive-aggressive. No Sharing, Needs Salt and Fine, Here all work as singles, and even better as a three-pack.

Sticker pricing that works
Single die-cut stickers mostly sell for $3 to $5. The margin lives in packs: three to five moods from the same family, priced as a set. If you'd rather sell one product with all of them on it, our sticker sheet tutorial shows how to lay six cats out on one sheet.
Or put the two trends together
Cowboy cats are a small niche nobody's crowding yet. Tiny Rodeo and Lucky Cat Club are already in the library, and the "yeehaw." cat in a boot took us about two minutes with one prompt. Personally we'd test a three-pack of these before Christmas. Cat people and country people overlap more than you'd think.

How to make your own version on Playground
You don't need to start from scratch. Every template above opens straight into the Playground design editor.
- Open a template and click Customize. It loads on the canvas with every layer editable.
- Change the phrase. Click the text and type your own. For stickers, keep it to one or two words. For tees, keep it under six.
- Change the subject with the prompt bar. Try "same cat, wearing a tiny cowboy hat" or "same boot, in turquoise" and hit Generate. Pick the variation you like.
- Prep it for print. For stickers, click Remove Background in the tool panel so the die-cut edge prints clean. For tees, use Vectorize and set it to 2 or 3 colors for that screenprint look.
- Export as PNG. Transparent PNG for stickers, and you're ready for your print provider.
Selling what you make needs a commercial license, which comes with Playground Pro. Pro also gives you a lot more generations, which matters here: the fastest way to build a sticker pack is ten quick variations of the same cat, then keeping the best five.

These templates came out of two briefs in our creator program. The cat brief asked for "cats with opinions" with no whiskers, no shading and nothing floating. The western brief asked for a "rodeo queen with a mouth on her." If your designs follow the same rules, they'll sit right next to these in a search result.
What to skip right now
- Plain cat tees. Too many sellers, too little difference between them. Put the cat on a sticker instead.
- "Whimsy" phrase tees. The same few phrases are listed by dozens of sellers. That one's done.
- Costume western. Souvenir-shop graphics, rope fonts with a cartoon cactus, anything that looks like a gift-shop keychain.
- Fall y'all. It peaked weeks ago. Spend that time on Christmas instead.
- Famous internet cats and meme catchphrases. Easy takedown territory. Keep every design your own.
Where to go next
Pair these with the rest of your Q4 plan. The holiday gift guide covers 12 more niches worth a listing before December, the sarcastic caption tee tutorial goes deeper on phrase tees, and our vintage tour tee guide works well for western concert and road-trip designs. For a starting point, search western, cowgirl or cat sticker templates.
Frequently asked questions
Are western graphic tees still trending in 2026?
Yes. Fashion brands keep releasing western and horse-girl graphic tees, search interest keeps climbing, and the trend peaks again in fall and winter with concert season, December rodeo season and holiday gifting. The 2026 look is one phrase, one object and a washed color, with the attitude carried by the joke.
What sells better right now, cat tees or cat stickers?
Cat stickers. Cat tees are everywhere, so a new one has a hard time standing out. Stickers built on "one cat, one mood" are much less crowded, cheap to buy on impulse, and easy to bundle into packs.
What colors work best for western shirt designs?
Washed sand, dusty rose, faded denim blue and butter yellow as the shirt or background color, with two or three ink colors on top, usually brown, cream, burgundy or a warm gold.
Can I sell designs made from Playground templates on Etsy?
Yes, with a Playground Pro plan, which includes the commercial license. Customize the template first (your own phrase, your own colors) so the listing is yours and doesn't match anyone else's.
How do I make a cat sticker die-cut ready?
Open the design in the Playground editor, click Remove Background so only the sticker and its white border are left, then export a transparent PNG. Your print provider cuts around the shape.
