Tell Claude or ChatGPT what you want and Playground makes it, saves it to your Board, and sends it to Printify or your Etsy shop when you're ready. Same chat, start to finish. And it only takes about 90 seconds to set up.
What are we even setting up?
Playground is a design tool created for sellers just like you. It normally lives in its own Chrome tab where you generate a design, edit it, download the file and move onto the next task.
This setup moves your entire Print on Demand process into Claude or ChatGPT. Instead of opening Playground, you just say what you want Playground to design in a chat you already have open, and Playground does the work in the background. You can even watch your designs coming to life real time on "Boards" within the Playground platform!
Playground can also connect your Etsy shop and your Printify account to Claude/ChatGPT which allows you to use your design to create a new product in Printify AND list it on Etsy - all in the same chat.
What you need first
This connection takes four accounts. Each are free to make, and if you already have them, just have your login information handy:
- Playground. Free to start.
- Printify. This is who prints and ships your products.
- Etsy. Your shop.
- Claude or ChatGPT. Pick whichever you already use.
You need to be on a computer for this part. Browser or desktop app, either is fine. Once the connection is made, you can use ChatGPT or Claude from your phone app!
Connect Etsy and Printify
Head to your Connectors page in Playground. Make sure you are signed into your Playground account first.
Etsy
Click Connect on Etsy.
If you are already signed into Etsy, an authorization screen comes up. Click Grant Access. Done.
Printify
Click Connect on Printify. This one takes an extra minute because Printify uses a token instead of a login screen so we will have to do this manually (don't panic).
An input box comes up asking for a token. Click the link below it that says Generate a personal access token in Printify, or go straight to printify.com/app/account/api if you are already signed in.
Once you are there, click Generate.
Name it Playground AI and click Generate Token.
Click Copy to Clipboard. The long wall of characters is normal, you are not meant to read it.
Back on Playground, paste it into the input box and click Connect.
Both are connected. Now to get Playground into your chat.
Connect Playground to Claude
Six steps. Looks like a lot written out, but the whole thing takes maybe 90 seconds! There are screenshots for every single one so you will not get lost.

Step 1: Open Settings
Open Claude on your computer. Browser or desktop app, both work. Click the Settings gear icon in the sidebar.
Step 2: Click Add
Inside Settings, find the Connectors section. Hit the Add button in the top right corner.
Step 3: Name it and paste the URL
Type Playground AI as the name. Then paste this URL into the server URL field:
https://playgroundai.com/mcp
Click Continue.
Step 4: Scroll down and click Add
A settings screen comes up with a pile of options. Do not touch any of them. Scroll to the bottom and click Add.
Step 5: Click Connect
Playground now shows up in your connector list. Click the Connect button next to it.
Step 6: Sign in to Playground
A Playground login window pops up. If you are already signed in, click Connect to authorize. If not, log in first, then authorize.
One more thing: Go to Settings, Connectors, and click on Playground AI. Change Needs Approval to Always Allow so you are not approving every action while a design is being made.
You are now connected, go ahead and start a fresh chat and test it out!
Connect Playground to ChatGPT
Same idea, slightly different path. ChatGPT buries the plugin settings one level deeper, but it is still fast.
Step 1: Open Settings
Open ChatGPT. Click your profile icon in the bottom left corner, then click Settings.
Step 2: Turn on Developer mode
Inside Settings, go to Security and login. Find the Developer mode toggle and flip it on. Without this, ChatGPT will not let you add outside tools.
Step 3: Go to Plugins
Now go to Settings again, then Plugins, then Browse plugins. You should see a list of available plugins.
Step 4: Add the Playground plugin
Click the + button in the top right. Type PlaygroundAI as the name and paste this URL:

Scroll down, check the box that says you understand and want to continue, and click Create.
Step 5: Connect and sign in
Click Connect. ChatGPT opens a Playground sign-in window. If you are already logged in, hit the connect button. If not, sign in first.
Step 6: Allow all actions
So you are not hitting approve every time a design gets made, go to Permissions and change Always Ask to Allow all actions.
You are now connected, go ahead and start a fresh chat and test it out!
Try it
Start a fresh chat and paste this in:
Prompt: Use Playground AI to generate a flat vector design of a stack of pancakes with the words RISE AND GRIND underneath, bold retro type, three colors, no gradients, no shadows.
Then keep talking to it. Make the letters thicker. Try it in cream and burnt orange. Lose the syrup. This is a conversation, so the second version is usually better than the first.
Your first one does not have to be good. It just has to exist.

Quick troubleshooting
"I don't see Connectors anywhere in Claude."
Are you on mobile? Connectors only show up on claude.ai in a browser or the desktop app. Phone app doesn't have them yet as of September 2026.
"ChatGPT won't let me add a plugin."
Developer mode. That toggle in Security and login. We forgot it the first time too and spent 5 minutes confused.
"Connected fine but it won't make anything."
Make sure you mention in the chat to use "Playground AI", or "Playground AI MCP". You only have to do this once in the chat. Also double check you signed into the same Playground account during the authorization step.
"Do I need to pay for Playground?"
To set this up and play with it, no. The free plan gives you 10 image generations every 3 hours, and the connection itself costs nothing.
